How does OpenText™ Core Capture work?

Core Capture has been designed so that its use does not cause problems for users. The entire process consists of four steps, two of which are performed in part automatically.

• Scanning & Importing - The stage of entering a document into the system, we can choose an existing document or use a scanner connected to the computer.
• Organization - We check the classification and separation of the documents and correct them if necessary. If the classification is changed, the document will be processed once again, since the classification determines the fields that will be finally recognized.
• Overview - we check the recognized data. We check if and how the OCR engine handled the extraction of data from the document and correct it, if necessary (we use Single Click Entry for this - we select the relevant values we mark from the document image on the right).
• Approval - end of the process, the document is exported to the configured system.

Core Capture has built-in interfaces to the company's OpenText tools, but it also allows export using the CMIS or saving the result to FTP. It is also possible to integration with SAP, as in the case of VIM integration (Vendor Invoice Management) with the Invoice to Pay (I2P) process.

After the scanning stage, and yes actually importing the document into the system, it goes to the OCR engine, which does the recognition work. The Core Capture tool uses two OCR engines - a classic engine called Advanced Recognition in this case, used by the tool so far Captiva (and later Intelligent Capture) and the Information Extraction engine, known for example from the tool Intelligent Capture for SAP, allowing the system to continuously learn by processing documents on an ongoing basis. Which tool we use is entirely up to us and depends on the requirements for OCR.

Examples of using OpenText™ Core Capture

Core Capture is a lightweight, ad-hoc tool. It will work best for small processes, in which we need to enter documents into some system, preferably with the data already read.
It can be:

• delegation clearance,
• Entering a new contractor or employee in xECM/SAP,
• uploading invoices into the accounting system,
• introduction of a new order.

Using Core Capture, we will be sure that all required documents and data are entered. While we can't always log into some large system to start the process, Core Capture is always at hand.

In addition, we have a variety of options for exporting and sharing data with applications including OpenText™ Extended ECM, OpenText™, Documentum™, OpenText™ Intelligent Capture, OpenText™ AppEnhancer and other business solutions using CMIS.
